How it started

History

The London Film-Makers' Co-op (LFMC), one of LUX's predecessor organisations, was founded in London in October 1966 as a non-profit film distribution cooperative. In January 1999, London Electronic Arts, formerly London Video Access, merged with the LFMC to form the Lux Centre. The Lux Centre closed in 2001, and LUX was established in 2002 as a new organisation continuing the distribution and collection activities of its predecessors. Since 2016, LUX has been based at Waterlow Park in Highgate, London.
