Early life and education

Vohánka grew up in Most, in northern Bohemia. After secondary school, he worked in life-insurance sales before moving into fuel trading and founding the business that became Eurowag in 1995.

Eurowag first served road hauliers with fuel-related services. Fuel cards and toll payments were added as the business grew. By 2016, it was among the larger fuel-card providers in Europe. That year, US private-equity firm TA Associates acquired a stake of about one-third in the company.

Eurowag expanded into other European countries and moved beyond fuel-related services into software and fleet management. Vohánka said the company wanted to give smaller hauliers access to more of those services through one platform.

In October 2021, W.A.G payment solutions, the company behind the Eurowag brand, completed an initial public offering in London. W.A.G payment solutions was valued at about £1 billion when it listed in London in October 2021. Vohánka stayed in a leadership as chief executive and kept a substantial stake in the company.

Eurowag later combined payments and toll services with navigation and fleet-management tools on one platform. In 2025, Bloomberg reported that Vohánka was looking to digitalisation as the trucking industry faced a shortage of drivers.
